THE INTERCONTINENTAL in San Antonio, TX

Visual Identity, Collateral Design, Naming, Signage

The InterContinental San Antonio Riverwalk is a stunning new hotel in the heart of the Alamo City. RAY Studio was brought on as a key creative partner, entrusted with bringing this hotel’s four distinct food and beverage outlets to life.

Our Approach

RAY completed naming and branding exercises for the full collection of these venues; crafting vibrant and independent identities for each space that felt representative of the beautiful interior design and overall locale. The collection of venues included a rooftop bar, lobby bar, coffee house, and signature restaurant.

Cavalier

The signature restaurant at the Intercontinental San Antonio, Cavalier,  feels decadent and authentic to the grand Texan city that surrounds it.  Cavalier uses a more classical typeface alongside luxurious floral graphics to make for a brand that feels traditional yet contemporary.

High Praise

High Praise is the hotel’s rooftop. Our team was inspired by the punchy colorways used in this space’s design along with the elevated vantage point, and wanted to design a brand that felt fun and a bit groovy. The bird icon used for this brand adds a feeling of mystery, and is a light homage to the Texas state bird; the mockingbird.

Deco Bar

For the lobby bar, RAY envisioned a brand that felt magnetizing; something that would act as an invitation to anyone milling about the lobby to stay and converse over a drink or bites. Inspired by the decadent and retro-feeling design of the space, this identity feels darker, a little nostalgic, and of course a bit art deco too.

Rosebelly Coffee

Rosebelly is meant to be San Antonio’s new neighborhood coffee spot. Playfully named after Texas’ Rose-bellied Lizard, Rosebelly’s branding uses rose gold foil and a lighthearted script font to act as an homage to the brand’s mischievous and spirited origin story.

"For our project, RAY Studio had the challenge of creating and developing materials for four distinct food and beverage concepts in a single building. RAY Studio delivered both on the process and on the final product! Great people that we’d gladly work with again.”
